About the Item

This is a framed original painting. Taryn Boals was born in the small town of Orangeville, Illinois surrounded by farmland, horses, and open skies. Taryn continues make her mark as an emerging artist in the Jackson area.

  • Protect Our Winter
    By Jennifer Lowe
    Located in Denver, CO
This is a mixed media painting on paper done in an illustrative style. It is set in a winter forest. The birch trees are set in an almost pattern like composition. There are several animals in the piece, including deer, foxes, wolves, ferrets, bunnies, and owls. The painting is titled "Protect Our Winters" after a group dedicated to protecting Montana's environment from climate change. Jennifer Lowe has combined the landscapes, animals and the people of her native Montana with a unique approach to painting. Born in Missoula, Jennifer spent parts of her childhood working in the fields of her grandparent's homestead property in Montana's Grasshopper Valley. Lowe's paintings are rendered in the vivid color and rich texture of livestock markers and capture the whimsical images from her imagination and the memories of her Montana upbringing. Jennifer began using the oil paintsticks in 1985 while a student at Montana State University. Since graduating in 1987, Lowe has been shown alongside such well know western artists as Thorn Ross, Howard Post...

  • Leap, Watercolour on Paper, Yellow , Brown White Color "In Stock"
    By Prashant Salvi
    Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Prashant Salvi Leap, Watercolour, Acrylic, Charcoal on Paper 22 x 30 inches, 2016 (shipped in a roll form) "I have built my career on surrealist,anatomical/botanical fantasies; beautifully rendered yet sometimes haunting and gruesome, void of irony and done with absolute sincerity. My work builds meaning primarily by exploring the unbridgeable difference between animals and people. A proactive imagery of humans and animals suggests an investigation of linguistics, the natural sciences and human sociology all in respect to the parallel universe of other species alongside us. I use a seemingly detached abstraction as a counter-point, tomy- stylised fabrications of sexual desire"- Prashant Salvi An undercurrent of eroticism, viewed with a steady detachment often can be part of Salvi's works, morphing human and animal forms and throwing psychological riddles challenging the viewer to decide where life begins or ends. Salvi's watercolours with its technical virtuosity turn images from nature to a surrealistic dance of survival. The works are challenging, complex and magically real and acknowledge life’s gentleness and aggressiveness in unison. While nature’s logic could be used to argue the very existence of an omnipotent creator, Salvi, paradoxically suggests ambiguity to life's bigger and deeper questions; answers of which he feels don't come in neat packages. Artwork Details: Horse of Hope, 122x152cm, Collaged woodblock print, acrylic ink on Somerset satin paper, 2023 Artwork Provenance: from the Artist Studio photo credits, Isabel working, black and white shots, James Brown In Isabel's own words: Horse of Hope The world had become a sad grey place, mud, empty plains with bleak, loveless sky as far as the eye could see. It seemed that all was lost of the old world. Until one day a whisper began on the breeze, so quiet that you could hardly hear it. But it grew stronger and stronger until the trembled with the sound. 'The horse of hope is coming, the horse of hope is coming!' The horse of hope had arrived, its dainty hooves tapping along the way. Where there had been nothing but emptiness the horse trod and from its feet sprung new life and hope. The world became a lush carpet under its footsteps. Up sprang greenery, pushing its tendrils to the sky. Blue irises reached out their twisted delicate petals welcoming the new life in. Strong, dark foliage grew and grew, and with this creatures began to return from their hiding places. Out from rocks and stones they came, for there was hope once again and the world buzzed with new life. *Please note we are happy to ship this work rolled in an art tube. With eight huge hops I vaulted a vast desert of sand dunes, hot sand blew in my eyes, blocked my nostrils and burnt my hooves. With nine large leaps I scaled a stone wall that stretched to the skies, the cold grey lumps seemed to penetrate my heart with their silent indifference. I had come to dance before the Queen who had heard rumours of my beauty. I knelt before her in the great long throne room. 'Your majesty,' I said, 'I will dance for you but you must know that this comes with a price. How great the price will be I cannot tell, it will depend on your deepest heart.' 'Dance,' she commanded, 'I care not for such things. There is no price, I am the Queen.' So I tapped my hooves and jiggled my legs, I tossed my mane and I shook my head. I danced and I danced. My body shimmered and shone, radiant in the light of the chandeliers. As I danced a rumble began, it got louder and louder as the walls of the castle crumbled and fell around me. I carried on dancing until nothing was left and the Queen was nowhere to be seen. I assumed she was crushed under the rocks, but I had given her fair warning...
