Frantz Lexy
"Falling into the arms of a lover", acrylic, marble, foam, seascape, blue, brown

2022

About the Item

Frantz Lexy's "Falling into the arms of a lover" is a 24 x 30 inch painting of a seascape as seen from a birds eye view perspective. The movement and rhythm of crashing waves are rendered in intricate details with various hues of blue and turquoise. The grey and brown rocky formation of the shore is sculpted in 3D using layers of crafting foam, marble medium and acrylic paint. The hyper realistic and tactile qualities of the work invites the viewer to immerse themselves into the scenery as one would when out in nature. The painting is signed on the reverse side of the panel. Through painting, Frantz Lexy explores personal identity, belonging, and humanity’s place in nature and its relationship with technology. He uses personal storytelling as a vehicle to engage contemporary concerns and invites others to find their own narratives through his imagery. Lexy is fascinated with how paradoxical imagery creates tension and compels us to reflect on our immediate reaction. Human figures are recurring motifs in his works. He is equally interested in texture and abstraction, and how they play within his landscapes. Lexy’s portfolio is a reflection on the plurality that exists within every individual, and specifically how that relates to people of color. Frantz Lexy is a self-taught artist and experimentation is a driving force behind his vibrant acrylic paintings. His work has been shown in galleries across Massachusetts. He is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
