Fred Wagner, a Philadelphia, PA painter and teacher was born in Valley Forge, PA on 20 December 1864 and died on 14 January 1940. He studied with Thomas Eakins at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He was a member of Philadelphia Sketch Club and the Philadelphia Watercolor Club. His work appears in the following collections: Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Art, Philadelphia Art Club, Reading Art Museum, Cleveland Art Museum, and more. He exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts annually 1882-1940 (prize 1914), National Academy of Design (1884), Corcoran Gallery biennials 1907-1935, Art Institute of Chicago 1906-1926, Carnegie Institute 1922 (prize).
