Oil on board Image size: 13 1/2 x 9 inches (34.25 x 23 cm) Hand made contemporary style frame This is a classic Italian landscape painted in an academic style, taking inspiration from the Roman Campagna. This landscape, with its recession through a series of planes, soft, warm lighting and classical subject matter, draws on the example of artists such as Claude Lorrain and Gaspard Dughet. This painting has successfully achieved that difficult-to-define pastoral ambience with its Arcadian lushness, wide panoramic view and distant horizon.
