Born in Birmingham in 1840, then moved to Malvern, Worcestershire in 1872, back to Birmingham in 1891 then to Sutton Coldfield in 1894, on to Moseley, Birmingham in 1898, to Cheltenham, Gloucestershire in 1909 before settling in Teddington, Middlesex in 1909 and died in February 1921
He was a landscape and nature painter. These he painted in oil and watercolour. He painted many Midland and Welsh landscapes and river scenes. These are similar in subject to other Birmingham school artists such as Joseph Thors and Samuel Henry Baker.
