Emanuel Schulze
Grund by Emanuel Schulze - Architecture and landscape painting, vivid colours

2016

About the Item

Grund is a unique oil on canvas painting by contemporary artist Emanuel Schulze, dimensions are 80 × 100 cm (31.5 × 39.4 in). The artwork is signed, sold unframed and comes with a certificate of authenticity. With its vast open spaces and sparse vegetation, this landscape reminds one of the African savannah. Yellow and purple, blue and orange, and green and pink are used as a dialogue between complementary colours in the artist's work. Perhaps his trip to South Africa served as the inspiration for this painting. This landscape is organized by the artist's signature geometric structures, which also broaden the perspective out to the far horizon. Since Emanuel Schulze also works as a stage designer, he has a special interest in space planning, which he incorporates into his artwork. He argued that the ability to structure and confine our living world through the use of geometric shapes makes them fundamental. The second main component of his work, the landscaped spaces, are elaborate with a lot more experimentation and without precise planning, leaving more room for imagination. Emanuel Schulze explores the conflict between the artistic freedom of landscaped spaces and the technical accuracy of architectural forms.
