John Kelly
John Kelly was born in Bristol, UK, in 1965. His family emigrated to Australia later the same year and settled in the Melbourne suburb of Sunshine. In 1985, Kelly obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts Painting from RMIT, where he also completed his Masters of Arts in 1995. As a winner of the 1995 Anne & Gordon Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarship, he traveled to London to study as an Affiliate Student at the Slade School of Art from 1996–97. Kelly's interest in Australian history clashed with his idiosyncratic sense of humor and this collision created his early Dobell's Cows series (1992–1996) based on the work of the artist Sir William Dobell. Early indications of his work had broader resonance beyond Australia which influenced him greatly, and his thoughts for future international projects.

- Park Spring (Impressionistic Figurative Painting of Figures in a Park Landscape)By William ClutzLocated in Hudson, NYModern impressionist style figurative painting of a family in a colorful park landscape “Park Spring” painted by William Clutz in 1996 60 x 50 inches in a natural wood floater frame Wire backing, signed lower right This figurative oil on canvas painting was made in 1996 by William Clutz as part of a series of works called "Crossings". These paintings were a study of NYC dwellers engaging in the simple, daily activity of crossing the street. In this piece, Clutz captures a joyful moment of a mother and father walking in a sunlit park landscape with their young child. Bright sunlight radiates through lush fall foliage and fills the scene with a soft orange light. With broad, expressionistic brushstrokes, he discovers the extraordinary in the ordinary, by emphasizing the effects of sunlight on the human form. The painting is in excellent condition and is framed in a natural wood floater frame. More about the artist: In New York in the early 50's and 60's, abstract expressionism was the orthodox approach to art at the time. However, Clutz was committed to his personal style that focused on abstracted human figures within urban tableaux. Working in a context of artists who challenged abstract expressionism's popularity in New York, Clutz established himself as a significant proponent of abstract figuration. His paintings focus on human figures within the urban environment, often exposing the transfiguration of his subjects as they travel through the complex light of city streets or summer parks, as shown in two of his early works. Clutz's interest in working from direct observation of urban life was influenced by a long-standing interest in German Expressionism, as well as artists like Henri Matisse, Arshile Gorky, and Nicholas De Stael...Category

- Winter Lounges (Small Landscape Painting of Hudson Valley Snowy Winter Scene)By John KellyLocated in Hudson, NYHudson Valley landscape painting of a snowy country field in wintertime Oil on linen, 16 x 17.5 inches in black painted, artist made frame En plein air painter John Kelly approaches the Hudson Valley landscape with the eye of an architect and the hand of an impressionist. With intense attention paid to form and light, Kelly nevertheless manages to abstract the landscape just slightly, breaking earth, sky, and atmosphere down to their most elemental qualities. In this painting, two lounge chairs sit side-by-side, heavily blanketed in snow. Kelly renders the snow in shades of cool blue and violet, touched with pure, bright white. Behind the chairs, a murky line of shrubs, limbs bare, mingles with a few lonely pines and far-off blue hills. About the artist: Hudson Valley based painter John Kelly received his education from the Art Institute of Boston and Buffalo State. He has been exhibiting around the northeastern United States since the 1970s. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center, USA, Los Angeles Overview 2011, Galerie Remmert und Barth, Germany, Düsseldorf which included artists August Macke,Carl Barth, Conrad Felixmuller, George Grosz,Hannah Hoch, Oskar kokoschka and others CARL BARTH 1896 to 1976 The Rhine painter CARL BARTH has created a work rich in developmental stages that stretches from the 20s to the 70s of the last century. After late-Expressionist beginnings in the 20s, he created in the early 30s, probably the most-respected part of his work, those strictly built, color-sparing tempera images that are the New Objectivity and the Magic Realism assigned, Barth's paintings of the early 1930s seem to express the loneliness of man in the face of a colder and more threatening social situation. The constructivist rigor of these works is transformed in the American paintings of 1936 into a more painterly style with a richer modeling of the subject matter, without abandoning the theme: the images reflect the loneliness and emptiness of the not only American "way of life" - they became repeatedly compared to works by Edward Hopper. Select Exhibitions: 1925 First exhibition of watercolors and printmaking in Munich. Return to the Rhineland. Initially own studio in his parents' house in Haan. In the fall admission to study at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. 1926 Exhibition with the group "The New West". 1927 First study trip to southern France (via Paris and Chartres). Master student with Heinrich Nauen. 1928 First exhibition with the artist group "Das junge Rheinland" 1933 Solo exhibition in the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf. 1936 Travel to the USA at the invitation of his uncle Ferdinand Kortlücke. - Helmut Gransow Landscape w/House & Barn "Springtime Reflections No. I"Located in Detroit, MISALE ONE WEEK ONLY “Springtown Reflections No. I” depicts the moment of change in the weather moving from harsh winter to the first warming days of spring melting the snow. The title suggests a moment to pause in farm life before the coming spring planting and also suggests a time of mental reflection on life and work. The puddles of melting snow reflect the buildings in the scene. The muted colors and slightly off kilter structures cause the buildings to appear worn but sturdy, a soft idyllic scene of rural life.
