About the Item

On the Northern California Coast and Golden Gate Bridge by Richard Brian Hazel Lavish paint and impasto layered oil paint of the Rocky Coast and the Bay in the background. A fishing boat traverses the inner bay with the Golden Gate in the distance. Image, 14"H x 22"W. Richard Hazel was born in San Francisco in 1931 and raised in San Mateo, California. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with a degree in psychology. After college he served for two years in the Army, and then pursued graduate studies in psychology at San Jose State University. In the later 1960s, while living in Half Moon Bay, he became a full-time painter of seascapes and creeks in Northern California. He followed this profession for some 40 years. He left the Coastside in 1976 and continued to paint and show work in Sonoma, Mendocino and the Bay Area as a member of the San Francisco Artists' Guild.
