Mary Rischgitz
Single Dahlias Bouquet - British Victorian floral still life exh. oil painting

1886

About the Item

This wonderful exhibited British Victorian floral still life oil painting is by female artist and flower painter Mary Rischgitz. Painted in 1886 it was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1887. It is a stunning opulent bouquet of delicate single dahlias in shades of red and white in a shiny brass vase on a table. A really lovely painting harking back to the Golden Age of Dutch flower paintings, by a gifted female artist who exhibited extensively throughout her artistic career. This painting has inspired me to try growing single dahlias from seed this year as they are so beautiful. Signed lower left. Provenance: Exhibited: Royal Academy 1887 No. 193 'Single Dahlias'.
