Also available as a 20x24" print, in an edition of 5 at £2,160. Brunelli shoots uniquely on black and white film with a 1960's Miranda Sensomat 35mm. The process of shooting on film, especially changing the film after the 36th shot, he says, causes you to slow down and breathe in fresh thoughts. The same thing happens in the darkroom, too, where you open yourself up to the unexpected during this unique printing process. Brunelli's New York belongs to a rich and established photographic tradition of capturing the "City of Dreams" which include Robert Frank's iconic depictions, Paul Strand's atmospheric representations, and Louis Faure's glossy portrayals. In New York, Brunelli shot with 50mm film, which challenged his creativity. New York is a city whose inhabitants see a wealth of skyscrapers peeling out of the concrete and almost touching the clouds, but whose sky is almost always hidden; the density of construction in such confined spaces meant Brunelli found ways to re-frame the image and create dazzling compositions born of restriction but which still speak of the inherent drama present. His camera lens, at the closest point of focus, captures his subjects - women's legs, men's hats, pigeons - at unusual, unpredictable angles. Unseen by the city and its inhabitants, he elevates them to the status of actors in a still motion picture. Brunelli's artisan approach to photography feeds directly into his images. His "desire to create" is sated by the photographic process, from which he brings to life elegant and fragile views that touch upon some of the majestic moods of film noir; the disquiet of the major city is muffled for the one instant that he captures his subject, and yet the subtle tension between the mass of the bustling metropolis and the individual ordeals of the humans inhabiting it is inescapably present.

Art historian H. H. Arnason, who ranked Lipchitz with Picasso and Marc Chagall, wrote, "Lipchitz, as a pure sculptor, is ...unquestionably one of the greatest sculptors of this century." The architect Philip Johnson asked Lipchitz to make a wall sculpture to be placed on the brick chimney over a fireplace of a guest house owned by Mrs. John D. Rockefeller III on West 53rd Street in New York. Lipchitz decided to develop the piece from his Pegasus designs and call it Birth of the Muses in honor of the Rockefellers' interest in the arts. In 1950 he completed the work as a bronze relief five feet high. It was installed as planned and later was acquired by Lincoln Center. He participated in the Flight portfolio...
