Hunter & Gatti
Hole. Mixed media fashion portrait on metallic paper photograph

2022

About the Item

Hole, 2022, by Hunter & Gatti Acrylic and scratch on fine art metallic paper with a pearlescent coating Image size: 21.2 in H x 16.1 in W Unframed The “visible” spectrum, probably the most well-known of human sensory limitations, as the human #eye is only capable of perceiving light at wavelenghts between 390 and 750 nanometers. Of course, calling it the “visible” spectrum is a bit of a misnomer, as plenty of animals are capable of perceiving light with frequencies outside this relatively narrow band of electromagnetic radiation. Using infrared black and white photography, the images shift, as you just saw, the greens become almost white and the blues a dramatic dark. The colors are not distorted, a different part of the spectrum is simply captured, it is another reality, it totally differs from the reality we know, that is why cameras and films have been always prepared to eliminate ultraviolet and infrared light, so that their results is the one that human eye sees, and that ́s what we change. The brain takes thoughts and information from the senses and shapes them according to its understanding of the world. But brain works differently on certain substances like #LSD rewing the brain ́s clock to a time before it learned, that way you might experience altered perceptions. If your prior belief in that the sun is orage and your prior belief melts, then the sun may appear green. A creative mind is the one that sees information and relates it to their experiences and existing knowledge in order to create. We wanted to create a film and a series of works of art that experiments with the concept of the senses, the shamanic idea of exploring other realities, finding new ways, the sensory exploration, a ritual catharsis experienced in the search of new ideas. The central interest for Joseph Beuys was transformation, the alchemy of one thing turning into another, the freedom of creation. And that was art for #beuys, the science of freedom. Joseph Beuys was one of our biggest inspirations in creating this project together with @nickfouquet. At #INFINITE, we explore the concept of creativity and explore the concept of breaking our preconceived ideas that mark our way of feeling and understanding the world. _______________________________ The founders and artistic minds behind Hunter & Gatti, Cristian Borillo, and Martin Cespedes have worked alongside one another for over a decade. Working as art directors, they have successfully produced numerous campaigns for fashion brands such as Burberry and Diesel. With this, Hunter & Gatti decided to explore even further the infinite possibilities of transformation by turning something as temporary as a fashion editorial, into something completely different and original; a unique piece of art. Thus, Hunter & Gatti was born. Hunter & Gatti immerse themselves in all aspects of development including creative initiatives, art direction, and photography; ultimately creating a holistic image for each individual brand. This creative duo has worked side by side with iconic clients such as Hugo Boss, Kenneth Cole, Massimo Dutti, Carolina Herrera, Swarovski, Sony Music, and Guess. They have also worked with magazines like Vogue, Esquire, and Flaunt, who have applauded their ability to produce exemplary work. Globally recognized for its artistic style and creative aesthetic, Hunter & Gatti have also produced an array of fashion films, each having its own unique personality. Their constant need to revitalize their outlooks and perspectives on the world is what keeps their creativity flowing, giving them immense success within both the art and fashion arena.
