James Bleecker
Ferns No. 2 (Sepia-Tone Botanical Still-Life Photograph on Watercolor Paper)

About the Item

Sepia-tone still life photograph of a fern forest pigment print on watercolor paper, signed and editioned The photograph is unframed and made to order (print lead time is typically 2 weeks) and can ship, rolled in a tube, directly to your home or framer 32.2 x 64 inch image on 38.2 x 70 inch watercolor paper Limited Edition of 10 Photography is generally thought of as the medium that most directly engages with the real, but James Bleecker uses his lens to transform his subjects — whether ferns, landscapes or metropolitan structures — into impossibly pristine archetypes of themselves. Such is the case with "Ferns No. 2." The flora dances with soft light, which is exaggerated by the sepia tone of Bleecker's prints. Patterned like a textile yet "rigorously composed" (to borrow the words of Edgar Munhall, Curator Emeritus of The Frick Collection), this pigment print on watercolor paper strikes a balance between the subtlety inherent to a nature scene and the grandiosity of a large photographic print. About the artist: James Bleecker photographs the landscapes and architecture of the Hudson River Valley. He has received commissions from the Albany Institute of History and Art, Historic Hudson Valley, the Rockefeller family foundations, The Frick Collection, the American Museum of Natural History, and The Morgan Library. Note: The install view of the framed print is an example. Prints are made to order through the terminus of each edition and do not come framed.

  • Macaw #4 - Animal signed limited edition bird contemporary fine art print, Red
    By Tim Platt
    Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
" Macaw #4 ” - Signed limited edition archival pigment print - Edition of 10 Green-Winged Macaws are monogamous and pair for life. They mate once in a lifetime, remaining and travelling together even out of the breeding season. Their beaks are powerful, allowing them to easily crack hard shelled nuts like the Brazil nut. The beak of the Green-Winged macaw can generate a pressure of 2000 pounds per square inch. Animal photography is about being ready for the split-second moment when it happens. This takes a certain amount of production. The studio set-up, the lighting and the camera settings can all be planned but the magic moment is seldom planned. It just happens naturally and you need to be prepared. Whether you capture it will depend on patience, concentration and reflex. This is an Archival Pigment print on fiber based paper ( Hahnemühle Photo Rag® Baryta 315 gsm , Acid- and lignin-free, Museum quality for highest age resistance and a popular alternative to analogue baryta paper). The inks used are also known for their longevity. Signed + numbered by artist with certificate of authenticity. Please note that prices increase as editions sell. Archival pigment print available sizes : 106 x 69 cm / 41.5 x 27” - Edition of 10 152.4 cm x 101.63 cm / 60 x 39,76 in - Edition of 3 Tim Platt specialises in creating minimal stylised studio portraits of birds and animals, which he describes as beauty shots. A frozen moment in time allows us to observe the world in suspension and will often reveal a graphic beauty that might otherwise flash by in the blink of an eye and remain unnoticed. Whether observing the magnified eye of a bullfrog, or an eagle captured at several thousandths of a second in mid-flight, he is fascinated by the level of detail that can be revealed in a large format print. It is the stillness of a photograph that gives us time to pause and marvel at the myriad levels of detail in Nature’s grand design and allows us to reflect on the wonderful diversity of life on Earth.
