FACE OF THE NIGHT (For Octavio Paz) is a limited run lithograph exhibition poster printed in multiple colors using traditional hand lithography techniques (not a photo reproduction) on archival Arches paper, 100% acid free, after American artist Robert Motherwell (1915-1992) 6' x 15' oil on canvas titled "FACE OF THE NIGHT (For Octavio Paz), 1981.
FACE OF THE NIGHT (For Octavio Paz) is a limited edition fine art poster exclusively created for Motherwell's NYC Gallery Exhibition at M. Knoedler & Co. in 1987.
Excellent quality, rich vivid colors, intense black and red, with touches of pink and golden yellow ochre, an impressive, bold, composition by the American Abstract Expressionist painter, printer, collage maker and author Robert Motherwell.

Print size - 20" x 24", unframed, pristine condition.
Printed by JK Fine Art Editions Co. New York, Printers chop mark embossed on lower margin.

Robert Motherwell (January 24, 1915 – July 16, 1991) was an American abstract expressionist painter, printmaker, and editor. He was one of the youngest of the New York School, which also included Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock, and Mark Rothko. Trained in philosophy, Motherwell became an artist, regarded as among the most articulate spokesmen and the founders of the abstract expressionist painters. He was known for his series of abstract paintings and prints which touched on political, philosophical and literary themes, such as the Elegies to the Spanish Republic.
