About the artist.
David Najar was born in Israel in 1962 His works (oils and acrylic on canvas) present energetic movements of color and shapes, projecting scenes from nature. His work can be described as “Contemporary Expressionism”. David Najar’s paintings are sold worldwide, they have been shown in group exhibits and one-man shows in Israel, the United States, and Canada.
Often focusing on landscapes, his compositions dance around themes of reflection. Utilizing water sources, the setting sun, and shadows, David splits images into their reflections - almost an optical illusions. He also paints figures and still lifes, focusing on very bright colors that are deepened with heavily contrasting shadow.
For years, David worked closely with Itzchak Tarkay, exchanging ideas in the arts and painting together once a week. He paints spontaneously, using his hands to express his feeling. Through his acrylics, heavy impasto, and rubber brushes, David instinctively chooses his colors. The work of David Najar is held in private collections worldwide.
