Dean Wolstenholme
Dean Wolstenholme (1798-1882) - 1832 Aquatint, Death of Tom Moody, Gone to Earth

1832

About the Item

A fine early 19th Century strike of the humorous scene of the death of Tom Moody. Moody's friends from his hunting troupe gather round his open grave, wildly shouting "Tally Ho!" much to the disgust of the minister. The aquatint is by Dean Wolstenholme Jnr (1798-1882) after Dean Wolstenholme Snr. There is an etched vignette amongst the title inscription and a tune inscribed in sheet music at the lower edge. The aquatint has been finished with delicate hand colouring. The print has been presented in a simple gilt frame. On wove.
