About the Item
This mid 17th-century map was published by Guiljelmum Blaeu in Amsterdam. The engraved map is 16 1/8 x 21" (41 x 53.1 cm) with beautiful original hand color. Tabula Magellanica is a highly decorative map of the southern tip of South America, including Tierra del Fuego and Cape Horn with the Straits of Magellan. It includes three compass roses, title, key, three scale cartouches, rhumb lines, and a dedication to Constantino Hugenio. A fleet of seven sailing ships is shown in the Pacific. This is one of the most embellished versions ever produced of this regional map.

Benson catalogue raisonne by Adam Paff #184. There are two recorded impressions of this print making it a rare find. It is signed in pencil and inscribed "D-2." The Image size 4 3/8 x 5 13/16" (11.1 x 14.8 cm). The final printed edition of "Three Yellowlegs" was 150.
