Shepard Fairey
Shepard Fairey "Force Of Nature" Silkscreen Print Contemporary Street Art

2023

About the Item

"Both a celebration of nature and a cautionary tale. Waves are beautiful and represent a powerful, hypnotic rhythmic cycle, but when energized by a storm, waves can be incredibly destructive. The semi-predictable patterns of seasonal flooding from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in Mesopotamia led to fertile land and the formation of Sumer, the first civilization. Humans have thrived by studying and adapting to weather patterns. An awareness of, and respect for, the undulations of nature has been crucial to the development of civilization and the success of its various communities. Climate change has demonstrated what happens to civilization when nature becomes more powerful and less predictable. From hurricanes Sandy, Katrina, and many others, to uncontrollable wildfires in CA, tornadoes in the midwest, and record temperatures and heat-related deaths in Europe where many lack air-conditioning, civilization is often unequipped to deal with the global warming-fuelled force of nature." -Shepard Fairey Manufacturer: Obey Giant Edition Details: Year: 2023 Class: Art Print Status: Official Run: 550 Technique: Screen Print Paper: Thick Cream Speckletone with Metallic Inks. • The High Cost Of Free Speech Shepard Fairey Print Signed & Numbered Politics
    By Shepard Fairey

Punk rock ignited a lot of creative and philosophical things for me, and punk principles continuously remind me that speaking truth to power and questioning authority is paramount in life. The Dead Kennedys, The Clash, Black Flag, and the Circle Jerks are just a few of the groups that referenced injustices such as police brutality and abuse of power in their songs, inspiring me to speak out about the same subjects through my art. I have made a lot of lasting friendships through punk rock and its cultural offshoots. One of those friends is Sean Bonner, who began ordering my prints in the '90s while he was art director for punk label Victory Records. Sean designed the package for the Bad Brains...

  • Creation IV, Anna Harley, Limited Edition Print, Starry Night Print
    By Anna Harley
    Located in Deddington, GB
Anna Harley Creation IV Limited Edition Print Screenprint on Somerset Satin Paper, printed to the deckle paper edge Edition of 30 Size: H 39cm x W 39cm x D 0.5cm Signed Sold Unframed Please note that any insitu images are purely an indication as to how a piece may look. Anna Harley is a professional fine art screen-printer, making prints at Spike Print Studio in Bristol. She has a Masters Degree in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking and lives in South Bristol. Her handmade prints are produced in limited editions, so each print is an original artwork, not a reproduction of an artwork made in a different medium. She says, "the screenprinting process suits my practice, because it allows me to build images in fine layers of ink, printing layer upon layer until I am happy with the final print. I use a combination of drawing, digital photography and objects directly exposed on the screen, to create these individual layers. I enjoy the tension this creates in my images – is the print based on a drawing or photograph? Is it attached fabric, pencil marks or ink? While engaged in the creative process, I try to stay open minded about how the finished print will look, to allow the print to make itself – print is an extremely process led way of making art and allowing the unexpected to happen and taking advantage of these happy accidents allows the work to stay fresh and exciting." She is inspired by how it feels to be outside, tree silhouettes, passing seasons, the weather, and the sky and how it changes from sunrise to evening. "I love things that sparkle and twinkle. I often use metallic pigments and, in a move that fully embraced my inner kitsch, I have recently made a snow print using white glitter. " Anna’s work is rooted within the Landscape tradition, while the fabric textures in her prints are an echo of her Scandinavian Arts and Crafts...

    By Carly Glovinski
    Located in Denver, CO
Rooted in observation and fueled by a curiosity about the behavior of objects and handicraft processes, Carly Glovinski makes paintings, sculpture and works on paper that often teeter between representation and abstraction. Letting craft techniques like weaving inform her mark making, her work mimics everyday objects and highlights geometric pattern and structure found in textiles, while exploring the resourceful attitudes associated with domestic craft and rural communities that prioritize placemaking in concert with nature. She received her BFA from Boston University in 2003 and is represented by Morgan Lehman Gallery...
