About the Item
a very interesting and beautiful pair of obelisks carved in a warm and precious red marble the Red France Languedoc Incarnat, used for important and uinque decoration in the Versailles Palace and more notable sites; the obelisks framed with two squared plints carved in the elegant Marmor celticum a black and white Ornamental stone characterized by a set of black spots (clasts), generally having an angular shape and centimeter dimensions, separated by pure white veins (cement), a few centimeters wide, with an irregular pattern, intertwined to form a lattice .
The name of the lithotype refers to the characteristic coloration. Denominations referring to origin and/or color are: Marmor celticum (the Celts inhabited France before the Roman conquest); Aquitaine marble (from the historical region of the same name); Black and white of France. Other names, in local use, are: Grand deuil and Grand antique.
