Monumental Majolica Houdan Hen & Chick Vase Choisy Le Roi by Paul Comolera
By Paul Comolera
Located in Austin, TX
Spectacular Majolica mottled Houdan hen with his chick vase signed Paul Comolera for the manufacture of Choisy le roi, circa 1875. The houdan hen feed his chick with a worm, a branch with leaves is on the base with blackberries, on the back of the hen a large vase with leaves. It's very possible it's an early example of the production or a special order because all the others hens know on the market are white. At the end of 19th century, Choisy le roi was one of the most important ceramics...
