Camille Fauré Mounted Objects

French, 1874-1956

Camille Faurè produced designs for Limoges, long famed for its enamels.

Born in Perigueux, France, in 1874, Faurè spent a long apprenticeship before setting up his own workshop at Limoges, where he worked for over fifty years. Fauré became Limoges’ most famous and talented enamel artist. He exhibited in the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, which gave Art Deco its name.

Faurè’s early work, like his post–World War II designs, involved large floral patterns, often in rich colors that kept in line with the Art Nouveau movement. He exhibited through his Paris shop, and produced vases, bowls, ashtrays, boxes and other items.

Faurè’s vases were made in many different shapes, including those of the gourd, kettledrum and egg, with geometric or stylized floral patterns. It was his geometric designs, however, which set him apart as the greatest creative enameller of the Art Deco style. These geometric designs included chevrons, lozenges, diagonal and stripe patterns and floral motifs, ranging from naturalistic to stylized patterns of leaves and flowers. The geometric patterns featured strong hues of blue, red, orange and yellow accented with blacks, whereas the floral patterns had more delicate hues such as turquoise, light blue, pink, lavender and white. Some vases had panels and borders of floral motifs combined with geometric stepped and angled motifs.

Using large vessels, vases, bowls or open-mouthed jardinières, the copper was covered in multiple layers of polychrome enamels in hard, vitreous, three-dimensional geometric designs of subtle complexity and color combinations. Faurè’s friend Marty occasionally worked with him in a very similar style. Both produced a small number of pendants in enameled gold, silver and copper.

Art Deco Figurine Table Lamp Bronze Lady Sculpture, French, circa 1930
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a stunning figurine table lamp of a nude lady bronze Figurine sculpture made in France, circa 1930. The figurine is heavy and made of bronze metal with good detail. It has been cold painted with a green colour which has worn away in places, showing a patinated bronze colour beneath. The lady is stood on a round ball above a shaped shell like base. The figure is holding the lamp above her head with the electric cable running into the base and vertically up her back to the lamp fitting above. A coloured spherical glass shade firmly sits in the dished support. The light is currently fitted with a small bayonet fitting, the whole electrical fitting having been PAT tested for safety compliance in the UK. The fitting could easily be modified to suit the electricity supply of the country where it might be used . This piece is typical of the Art Deco aesthetic, with the sleek lines of the nude girl figure holding the globe light above. The lamp is in full working order. This is a substantial heavy piece weighing about 2.5Kg unpacked. Overall a beautiful original Art Deco Lady Figurine...

French Art Deco Opalescent Glass Table or Desk Lamp with Stylish Bison Sculpture
By Edmond Etling
Located in Lisse, NL
Rare and stylish bison sculpture lampby EDMOND ETLING. This beautiful and truly artistic Art Deco table lamp comes with the signature "Etling France" and model number. Edmond Laurent Etling (23 June 1878 – around 1940) was a French art dealer, gallery owner, designer and a manufacturer of high-quality decorative objects made of bronze, ceramics and art glass in the Art Deco style. His company La Societe Anonyme Edmond Etling, founded in Paris in 1909, manufactured decorative objects and commissioned sculptors and artists, including Georges Béal, Demétre Chiparus, Claire Colinet, Armand Godard, Geneviève Granger, Marcel Guillard, Maurice Guiraud-Rivière, Géza Hiecz, Fanny Rozet, and Lucille Sévin. Other artists that worked with Etling for casting their statuettes included Aurore Onu, Marcel Bouraine, Pierre Le Faguays, Raymonde Guerbe and André Vincent Becquerel. Etling is known for light blue opalescent objects such as plates and bowls, which were also produced in gray and frosted glass. Most items bore the cast signature "Etling France" followed by a model number related to the Choisy-le-Roi catalogue. In 1910, Etling was awarded the diplome d'honneur at Brussels International (1910). In 1923, he was awarded the Grand Prix in Paris. In 1940, Etling closed his shop due to World War II. Because Etling was of Jewish descent, he was sent to a Nazi concentration camp, where he died. This early 1900s, sculptural table lamp clearly has many typical bison features making it easy to tell from further away as well. The overal design and opalescent colors of this bison on a hand carved wooden base makes this work of lighting art an absolute joy to own and look at. And with the light switched on, this art glass table lamp creates a warm light that makes every room an even greater pleasure to be in. This is the ideal light for a (private) library or for a desk, but this bison sculpture beauty also makes a great gift. This work of art table lamp is rewired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage the world over and when purchased by an American client we will also attach an American power plug so it can be used and enjoyed upon arrival. Mind you, our price for this rare light includes perfect packing (in a custom made and strengthened box) and also worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days. Maximum height x width x depth including wooden base: 7.7 x 9 x 4.8 inches. Height x width x depth of the glass bison...
