Medium-sized vase made by Legras, French production at the beginning of the 20th century. It is engraved in relief with colored glass and decorated with stylized flowers.
The Legras signature is engraved in cameo. The vase is in excellent vintage condition, no chipping or missing. Its decoration is obtained by the application of hot engraved enamels. A subsequent acid bath determines the veins and ribs of the foliage, a third the almost granular finish of the walls, as the area engraving creates small reliefs, which give the glass an appearance similar to carved hard stone. Its cameo is also made of hot acid enamel. The vase being a very original element of the early years of Art Deco are perfect for furnishing luxury houses where you can breathe real Art.
The manufacture Legras, while practicing all techniques, makes hydrofluoric acid engraving its specialty, in some processes associating it with enameling and gilding; the colors are pleasant and refined especially when they take on the tones of autumn. Perhaps the most excellent processing of Legras is the one carried out with the mélange technique (registered with a patent), commonly called "Nile green".
