Giuseppe Gambogi Furniture
Italian, 1862-1938
The Italian sculptor, Giuseppe Gambogi (1862 - 1938), worked in Paris and exhibited classical, romantic and orientalist subjects at the Salons.
He was greatly inspired by mythology and its figures ranging from the nymph to the goddess.
The melancholic and exotic idealized human form reflects Gambogi’s fascination with the ‘Belle Époque’.
The sculptor had a taste for beautiful materials: he sculpted in marble and alabaster, sometimes adding onyx to further enhance his work.(Biography provided by Artimo Fine Arts)
