Jake Attree
Jake Attree, an artist has exhibited widely in the UK over the past 25 years and has also exhibited work in America, Holland and Germany. He was born in York, now lives at Saltaire West Yorkshire and works from a studio at Dean Clough in Halifax, an enormous mill complex that once housed Crossley Carpets. He is a figurative artist in the sense that everything he paints is based on something he has observed. He layers his paint in a heavy impasto style using a combination of both vibrant and earthy colors to produce distinctive heavily textured works. He attended a secondary modern school in York and his art education was initially at York College of Art, the Liverpool College of Art and finally the Royal Academy of Arts, 1974–77, where he was awarded the Creswick Prize and the Landseer Prize respectively for his landscape and figurative work.
