Mid Century Modern Still Life with Jug and Vase by Ramon Prats (1928-2003)
By Giorgio Morandi, Ramon Prats
Located in Garnerville, NY
Ramon Prats (1928-2003) vase and jug still life oil paint on masonite. Circa 1971. Signed and dated lower right, Prats, '71. A peaceful rendering and reminiscent of Morandi's solitary still life paintings. Prats' stippling effect with the brush or palette knife has created a beautifully tactile and textured painting. Light and dark contrast of the violet cylinder next to the curvaceous jug. A wonderful piece. the framing treatment consists of a simple flat black wood profile molding. The piece is in good overall condition with minor losses around the corners and edges of the work. No other major paint losses. No visible crazing, water damage or restorations. Some scuffs, dings and losses to the black frame. Wear consistent with age. Approximate overall dimensions with frame are 1.5" deep x 16" wide x 24.75" high. The approximate measurements of the actual work on masonite are 15.63" wide x 24.25" high. Mid-Century Modern French Original Signed Oil Panting of Wine Still-Life
Located in COLMAR, FR
A moody still-life very much in a mid-century spirit. This vintage oil painting on stretched canvas has been sourced in the wine region of Alsace, France. It is very likely that it has been painted in this region as well since the wine bottles and the tall glass depicted have the typical shapes of Alsace wine bottles wine glasses. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower right corner and dated December (XII) 1960. In addition, as can be seen in the lower left corner, the painting has been dedicated to René Fullgraff (In Memoriam). The artist has efficiently experimented with contrasts of dark shadows and lighter, sharp reflections in this artwork. There is also a visible study of vertical and horizontal lines still visible. And last but not least, a lovely work with layers and textures (see photos). The result is a somewhat dramatic and masculine, mid-century still-life. Perfect for a dining room, kitchen or library. Maybe over a MCM bar cart...

Jug and Shell Still Life Oil Painting Signed Anne Montgomery
By Anne Montgomery
Located in Melbourne, AU
This small but lovely work is an excellent example of Montgomery's joyfully experimental modernism. It is a sketch in oil on composition board. A table and jug are heavily outlined. The shape of a white seashell is superimposed, with a ghostly idea of it's internal spiral and speckled surface sketched in. The table surface is covered in sgraffito curls while heavy brush strokes build texture in the background. Montgomery's painting vibrates with lively observations of colour and texture. It was purchased from the artist's own studio (the address is penciled on the back) for a single owner collection, then passed down by descent. Anne Montgomery has for many years been one of the women artists Australia forgot. Not any more. Along with the likes of Clarice Beckett...
