Phenomenal vintage chinoiserie Chinese Wedding opium canopy bed comprised of Chinese elm and all-over hand carved Asian gilded designs. It will hold a queen size mattress and is made up of 60+ individual pieces but will be shipped partially assembled. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. Its overall age patina, consisting of nicks, dings, scratches, cracks, possible missing details, and wear to finish is considered part of its beauty. We have used the original method of tightening joints for stability, tapered shims. Many are original and we have added more in areas for stability. Please see photos and zoom in for details. Handsome Hollywood Regency chinoiserie black and burl wood full-size headboard designed by Raymond K. Sobota for his Chin Hua collection for Century Furniture. It is in wonderful vintage condition overall. It does have normal signs of age and use but nothing outstanding. Please see photos, circa 1975-1998.
Wow! This is a gorgeous Hollywood Regency chinoiserie headboard. It is full-size and I have seen an upswing in interest of full-size beds recently. Maybe because of our smaller living arrangements whether because of downsizing or the fact that young families and singles are bringing more sophisticated design to their homes. This headboard is from the original Chin Hua collection designed by Raymond K. Sobota for Century Furniture in 1975. The entire collection was retired in1998 after a 23-year successful run. So successful that Century Furniture reissued the collection in 2012. And it is no wonder they revived it. The Chin Hua Collection was one of century’s most revered collections of all time. However, this gorgeous piece is not part of the new collection and is only available vintage. Playing with the Hollywood Regency and Chinoiseries style Sobota designed this piece beautifully. It is comprised of a white ash burl wood with ebonized maple accents. Simple but fabulous!

He attended and obtained his degree in design from Kendall College of Art and Design in his native home of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
