Tiled side table in stoneware was born out experiments in clay in the mid-20 century in Italy. The bold bright deep blue glazes and geometric patterns emphasize on the irregular brick work formation of the tiles and its gleaming uneven surfaces. The ceramic tiles rest on a square black metal frame. The dense ceramic is fired at high temperature to make it resistant to liquid and therefore more durable than other kinds of pottery. The stoneware tiles were made in the coastal town Albissola widely known for its pottery production. It became a prosperous hub for avant-garde ceramic art and design in the early and mid-20th century. During this period of activity (1929-1963) artist including Lucio Fontana, Wifredo Lam, Piero Manzoni came to produce sculptures and unorthodox household objects...
