Bonnie Cashin for Sills Poncho Cape Suede Patchwork Pink Olive Vintage 70s S/M

About the Item

Preowned, vintage Bonnie Cashin for Sills suede patchwork poncho or cape, likely made in the 70s. Made from shades of dusty rose, butterscotch and olive-hued caramel suede leather patchwork, it fastens with pearlized snaps at the collar and chest. Bonnie designed her pieces to be layered (a term she coined during her amazing career), so one can wear as-is, over a turtleneck, belted or with your favorite ensemble (images 3 & 4 show this poncho along with our Cashin pink suede leather crop top, belt & maxi skirt, not included with this sale, but being sold separately). Made in the USA. No size tag, fits like a modern S/M. Approximate measurements, taken flat: 37in across the top shoulders x 25in natural shoulder to hem. Preowned/vintage (40 years old) with signs of age, use and prior wear: spots/color variation/rubs to outside suede, some water spots to interior & one small tear that's been unprofessionally repaired (see last image, where we show both sides of the repair), hard to see when wearing but evident if inspecting closely.

  • Bonnie Cashin for Sills Coat Oversized Trailing Sleeves Boucle Knit Documented
By Bonnie Cashin for Sills, Bonnie Cashin
Located in Port Saint Lucie, FL
Incredibly rare and uniquely gorgeous vintage Bonnie Cashin for Sills coat with exaggerated trailing sleeves, likely made in the late 60s. Made from a supple mohair and wool boucle knit, the oversized houndstooth pattern features several shades of brown, green and black. Trimmed in black leather piping, it has Bonnie's signature half moon pockets at each hip and is unlined. As documented in Dr. Stephanie Lake's monograph, Bonnie Cashin: Chic Is Where You Find It (photos on page 177 and on back cover), Bonnie's pieces were sewn "...almost entirely by hand and usually by one person start to finish...". Indeed, this is truly a one-of-a-kind piece. No fasteners, one can simply wear as-is, use as a layering piece or style with a favorite belt or Obi sash, as we've shown in some of our images (belt shown is NOT included). Leather/dry clean only. No size tag, but we're estimating this as a modern M/L. Measurements (approximate, taken flat and doubled where appropriate): shoulders - 16in, bust - 40in, waist - 33in, hips - 43in, shoulder to hem - 46in, sleeves - 25in. Preowned/vintage with minimal signs of age, prior use and wear, this coat appears as if it was never worn (something we rarely say about vintage...
