Vintage 1970s Scott Barrie Purple Floral Chiffon Low-Cut Plunge Maxi Wrap Dress

About the Item

Stunning Scott Barrie purple and pink floral print chiffon maxi dress dating back to the mid-1970's. Scott Barrie was one of a group of black designers and models based out of New York's Seventh Avenue in the late 1960's. Model Naomi Sims was a fan and often was spotted wearing his work which helped with his popularity. In the early 1980's he stopped his own label to work at Krizia. Because his own brand was only around for a decade and not many were produced, finding his pieces is very exciting. The print itself is glorious; a dense floral pattern in shades of pink, black, ivory and purple. I love the lightness of the chiffon; it makes it feel like the fabric is floating when you walk. The bodice is a seductive thin-strap plunge with a hidden side wrap design. A tie goes through the waist and wraps around as a chic sash. The flowing maxi length skirt finishes this garment off with the perfect ethereal vibe. Measurements Bust: 32-33 inches Waist: 25 inches Hips: up to 40 inches Total Length: 58 inches This Scott Barrie designer dress is in excellent condition with no rips, holes or stains. Fabric is a beautiful viscose chiffon which feels just like silk. Fully-lined. Wrap-style side closure with perfectly working original back zipper. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.

  • 1920's French Couture Metallic Gold Lamé Beaded Leaf-Motif Trained Flapper Dress
    Located in Beverly Hills, CA
Breathtaking mid-1920's French couture museum-quality beaded & jeweled metallic lamé evening trained dress. The dramatic gold color palette touches a deep chord in our collective aesthetic consciousness. As fashion lovers, we never tire from antique metallics; they will always be fresh to modern eyes. It is in wonderful wearable condition; something that is becoming a rarity as time goes by. The gold fabric is even more amazing when you realize it is all hand-beaded in the much gorgeous turquoise and creme leaf motif. The prong-set jewels add another degree of charm that is irresistible. I adore the fringed cut-out shoulders and three-dimensional floral side applique. The attached duel-trains really set this garment apart of others during the period. This is one of the best 1920's pieces I have ever seen and I would not be surprised to learn that it was custom made from one of the top haute-couture Paris...
