DE SELA Mexican Folk Art Papier Mache Heads

About the Item

Two heads are better than one! Adorable pair of Mexican folk art papier mache heads by De Sela depicting a glamorous woman and her dapper gentleman. The woman sports a blonde hairdo with sparkling eyes, long lashes and bow lips. The whimsical addition of freckles across her face and decollete are a clever touch. The gentleman seems to have a mischievous sparkle in his eyes with a handlebar mustache and yellow tie for a sartorial touch. Both heads are signed at the base and the woman also bears a foil label. These heads are often described as wig stands though they are equally wonderful as clever pieces of art. Fruit shown for scale. CONDITION Both pieces are in good condition though there are signs of age. Papier mache is surprisingly durable but inherently delicate and both heads have a few signs of wear and tear. Photograph 10 shows a dent on the top back of the gentleman's head. Photographs 11 and 12 show dents on the base of both pieces. Overall they look pretty good. MEASUREMENTS Each head measures 19" tall x 7" wide x 7" deep.
