About the Item
A beautiful small framed ceramic plate designed and signed by Gilbert Valentin for Galerie Les Archanges Vallauris. Les Archanges was a workshop created by Gilbert Valentin and his wife in Vallauris and where his ceramics and other artists ceramics were produced. This plate has the original gallery label on the back and can be hung as is framed in a simple gilt frame. A very collectable and decorative piece of French ceramics from the famous Vallauris town in the South of France, where Picasso amongst many other artists from the 1930's onwards were established. A renowned artistic centre in the South of France from the 1930's until the present day.

Gilbert Valentin
Gilbert Valentin was born in Nancy. His father, an artistic ironworker, was in charge of the maintenance of the Jean Lamour gates on the Place Stanislas and was part of the Nancy school. Gilbert Valentin got to know the creators of this period from a very young age: architects, painters, sculptors, glassmakers and ceramists. It was therefore quite natural that he learned the techniques of iron and wood.
