19th Century Chinese Scholar's Cabinet Glass Curio

About the Item

A late 19th century solid wood Chinese scholar's cabinet with glass doors and removable shelves. The glass doors with elegant black lacquered frames are mounted on dowels adorned with carved lotus. Above the doors a waist below the top facade featuring two simple raised lines. The frame member continues from the doors to three rosewood-covered drawers before ending on straight legs flanking an apron. Side panels and shelves are made with choice woods showing beautiful grains. Bronze hardware in flower basket pattern adds a subtle romantic touch. Such a cabinet was often used to store books, calligraphy art and other scholar's objects. Its timeless style works with all interior design themes. A classic, versatile piece, stable and fully functional.
