Japan, remarkable HoJu scroll, the wish granting jewel, signed, calligraphy painted on silk, wood rollers.
Dimensions: 26.5 inches wide and 72.5 inches length.
Zen like but piqued subject matter, this painting is skillfully and tastefully rendered in watercolor and pigment on a pleasantly aged background and with beautiful tones. Anonymously signed.
History of the HoJu:
Known as the ho¯ju or ho¯ju-no-tama or nyoi houju in Japan, this jewel signifies the bestowal of blessings on all who suffer, for it grants wishes, pacifies desires, and brings clear understanding of the Dharma Buddhist law (thank you wikipedia)
