Japanese Asian Signed Four-Panel Byobu Folding Screen Winter Nature Landscape
About the Item
A gorgeous hand-painted four-panel Japanese/Asian Byobu folding screen depicting a stark winter nature landscape scene with barren trees, rolling snow-filled hills, and a frozen lake. The deep, rich blacks-whites and grays, beautiful composition, and hand-painted detail make this an attractive and special work. We have not come across another screen quite like this one. The work is very reminiscent of Japanese artist Kiyoshi Saito's Winter in Aizu woodblock series/works.
Signed in ink and sealed in red by the artist.
Painted on silk or canvas.
Original decorative period brass hardware adds another wonderful touch.
This engaging screen is sure to stand out in almost any setting whether used as a room divider or hung on the wall as a work of art. A beautiful and unique work. Would be a great addition to any collection or eye-catching stand-alone accent work.
Likely Showa period but perhaps older.
