Large 19th century Japanese Meiji period eight panel byobu screen featuring a panoramic village landscape. The serene painting depicts agricultural scenes with villagers engaged in pastoral farm activities. Ink and color on paper with a dramatic gold leaf border. Made in the Maruyama-Shijo school style signed by artist Raku with two seals. Unique screen with a lovely aged patina. The painting is set in a black painted frame with a distressed, faded finish. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
