Japanese Showa Period Mounted Screen Manchurian Cranes with Pines
About the Item
Imposing Japanese Showa period two panel byobu screen later mounted in a large gilt and ebonized wood frame. The screen depicts a pair of large redheaded Manchurian cranes flying amid the stylized pine trees and clouds. Ink and natural color pigments painted on silk with a green silk brocade border. The thick frame has a gold leaf border with a lovely aged patina on the gilt. The painting is signed by the artist Eikyo with a seal. The screen site alone without frame measures 58.5 inches wide by 46 inches high. From an estate in Atherton, CA. Very impressive Size and scale.
