About the Item
A beautiful and charming work by famed Japanese artist Kaoru Kawano who was known for his whimsical portrayals of women, children, and animals. Stylistically, he was one of the first Japanese artists to combine Western-style elements with the traditional methods of woodblock printmaking. This print is titled "Two Girls"
The print has Kawano's red seal in the lower left front image and appears to be signed in pencil in the lower margin though he generally signed in the image.
A very beautiful image, this work would make for a great addition to any Japanese or Asian art and print collection or stand-out accent artwork in about any setting.

Kaoru Kawano
Kaoru Kawano was a woodblock print artist who worked during the Showa period (1926-1989). Born in Hokkaido in 1916, Kawano studied at Kawabata Art School during the 1930s. He gained an international reputation through successfulsolo exhibitions in North America and elsewhere.
