Japanese Cinnabar Scholars Cabinet, Early Taisho Period (1912-1926)
About the Item
The top & sides decorated with cartouche shaped panels depicting fauna & flora, the front showing a pair of panelled doors decorated with flying cranes & clouds, the obverse decorated with dragonflies. The interior housing six drawers retaining their original brass pulls & foliate shaped back-plates, surmounting a base fitted with a single full width drawer with a naturalistically cast bee-shaped pull, raised overall upon bracket supports.
