Japan Antique Cast Pair Garden Ducks, Beautiful Details
About the Item
A fine pair (2) of large scale Japanese hand-cast garden geese or ducks with knob heads, ebony and green colored surfaces, and highly detailed plumage, heads, tails, webbed feet, and wings.
Attractive original ebony and green patina from appropriate age.
Original "Made in Japan" label on bottom of one.
These sculptures are in remarkably fine condition just the way we like to discover them. Today these older works of art still serve as wonderful indoor or outdoor garden sculpture, beautifully conceived decorative accents only the Japanese artisans can create.
Dimensions: tallest 11 inches tall and 6 inches length; shorter is 10.5 inches tall and 6 inches length

History of Mandarin Duck:
The mandarin duck (Aix galericulata) is a perching duck species found in East Asia. It is closely related to the North American wood duck, the only other member of the genus Aix. In the world of Asian medicine, mandarin ducks are symbolic of relationship healing purposes and recognized as symbols of long-lasting relationships. They mate for life and remain committed to one mate the rest of their lives.
