Donald Deskey Andirons and Wall Mounted Fireplace Tools by Bennett
About the Item
An original five piece set of modernist Art Deco andirons and matching fireside tools designed by Donald Deskey and produced by Bennett-Ireland Company of Norwich, NY. Sculptural hefty brass handles on the broom, shovel and claw poker. The three tools rest on a blackened steel horizontal bracket which mounts to the wall. Andirons have aerodynamic brass blades on wrought iron shanks. Deskey's design was inspired by the Trylon sphere exhibited at 1939 World's Fair. Both wrought iron shanks are signed Bennett and have an impressed logo. Original finish.
