Extraordinary Pair Of Hollywood Regency Stone And Bronze Medusa Busts

About the Item

From Greek Mythology, the only Mortal of the infamous three Gorgons, Medusa, with her Hair in Braided Bronze Snakes. The Magnificent and rare large decorative shaped plaques of Medusa Busts or Masks in carved white stone painted or stained in a green and red weathered finish on ecru. With braided edges, greenish painted faces, and large scrolled tops with attached patinated bronze intertwined snake form hair that frame her whole face. With brass attachment on the back for suspension. First half of the 20th Century and likely from the 1920’s or 1930’s. H. 22", W. 13", Depth 11" Condition: Please see all detail photos. One of the Masks with stable cracks across the face into the right side and a stable crack to the lower left side, the second one with small stable cracks to the upper right and lower right sides. A few of the Bronze Snakes have detached from the stone (see photo) but remain stable. The aforementioned is for accuracy as the Masks display in a magnificent manner.
