Midcentury Danish Kähler Large Ceramic Low Bowl Green Black Gray Speckled Glaze

About the Item

Very rare large low bowl with very interesting glaze expression from the Danish ceramic workshop Kähler. The shape of this bowl and the glaze has a timeless expression so it´s difficult to say when exactly it was made and who designed it. We suppose it was made in the period 1930s to 1950s. The design could be by Svend Hammershøi but also by Nils Kähler. The colors of the glaze are blue green / verdi gris, black and gray with very minor elements of red. It´s a thick glaze adding lots of quality to this piece. The ceramics from the Kähler workshop were since about 1875 signed "HAK" for Herman August Kähler who was the son of the founder. Handsigned on verso with "HAK" and stamped "Made in Denmark". Very good used condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. Two tiny dots which are unglazed from production. Measures: diameter: 30 cm (11.81") height: 5,5 cm (2.16").
