Bayard France 1930 Art Deco Desk Table Lamp and Alarm Clock in Stainless Steel

About the Item

A desk lamp clock designed by Bayard France. Fabulous and very handsome integrated desk lamp-clock, created in Paris France by the the company of Bayard during the art deco period, back in the 1930. This very decorative ann useful piece is very hard to find in this perfect condition. Has been designed with geometric art deco patterns and assembled with a round base, a squared clock and two columns supporting a half spherical dome. Great weighty time piece showing the quality that one expects from this maker. Crafted in solid stainless steel, chrome parts, green and white enamel and bakelite parts. The clock is 53 mm by 53 mm and can be removed from the base to be serviced or just to display alone. Movement: French mechanical wingding, Bayard movement, 5 days, manufactured by Duverdry & Bloquel. The dial is square with silver and gold color, Arabic silver numbers, golden hands and inscribed, Bayard Made In France. Weight: 6 Pounds, (2,721.55 Grams), (1,744.5 Dwt). Measurements: 245 mm by 185 mm by 126 mm (9.65 x 7.28 x 4.96 Inches). Dial mark: Stamped with the maker's mark and signed, "BAYARD MADE IN FRANCE". Bayard Clock Co., When Albert Villon established his clock making shop in 1867 in St Nicholas D'Aliermont in northern France, he specialized only in marine clocks and travel/carriage clocks. During the next decades, the company changed names - from Duverdrey & Bloquel to Bayard and made many models of clocks -including traditional carriage clocks with solid brass cases and bevelled glass fronts, sides and backs and several lamps models also had visible escapements. In 1978 Bayard was taken over by Jaeger-Levallois from Switzerland. In the 1980's (1982-83) they began reproducing some of the clocks that had originally been manufactured by the first Bayard company, including a line of 'mignonettes' - carriage clocks. Service: The movement and the electrical elements are in working condition, however this is mostly a collector's piece for display that should need revisions by a professional electrician. Note: All parts are the originals from the stated period, including the electrical cord and the socket. An electrical convertor from 210 v to 110 v need to be attached to be functional. Condition: The overall condition of this desk lamp-clock is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the movement, the glass or any parts. Very minimal non distracted green enamel looses at the reverse. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
