20th Century Italian Abstract Vintage Murano Glass Sculpture by Pino Signoretto

About the Item

A late vintage Mid-Century Modern Italian abstract sculpture made of hand blown clear Murano glass, designed by Pino Signoretto in good condition. The detailed décor piece is supported, resting on a rectangular lucite glass base. The modern art is composed of two items, consisting its original easel from the artist and tiled card. Signed at the bottom. Titled: Unfinished Business, numbered 2 of 250. Wear consistent with age and use. Dated 1995, Italy. Sculpture: 11.25" H x 16.5" W x 1.75" D Base: 2.5" H x 8.25" W x 2.5" D Small Sculpture: 3" H x 1.25" W x 1.25" D Pino Signoretto was born in 1944 Italy and passed away in 2017 Italy. Signoretto started working in 1954 at a chandelier glassworks, he learned from great masters such as Alfredo Barbini, Livio Seguso, and in 1960 he became a master glassmaker. In 1978, he opened his own studio in Murano, Italy. Over the years he has worked with artist and architects, including Dali, Vedova and Licata.

    Italian glass master Pino Signoretto (1944-2017) signed "Lovers" sculpture with the Scavo technique, circa 1970s. Pino was a student of the master Alfredo Barbini, at 19 of age, he was already a Glass Master. Scavo technique gives it a texture as if it was ancient Roman glass, see description below. In very nice original condition, no damage. Scavo means 'dug up' and imitates ancient objects in the form and texture to those found in archaeological excavations. During manufacturing, a mixture of several powders (carbonates nitrates, talc, silica, etc.) is dispersed on the glass surface. Then the object is heated up to 800-Celsius degrees.
