Recumbent carved mahogany lions
We are proud to offer a highly decorative matched pair of hand carved recumbent carved mahogany lion figures. These 2 examples show a classical decorative quality, with deep patina and natural wear across their surfaces. These examples would have originally been part of an important piece of furniture or architectural element. Both examples differ in appearance due to being individually hand carved, with rib cages on display and sweeping seated legs, thickly carved mane with tails either side. They would look amazing either side of a fireplace or mantle.

Condition Report: Structurally secure, deep natural patina across both carvings. Wear and scuffs to the base edges, with visible remnants of bond to the crown head sections and underneath the base of both examples (this would have been used to attach these carving to an architectural interior or important of furniture. Its strongly recommended to review all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment.
