Mid-20th Century Modern German Glazed and Painted Porcelain Frog by Nymphenburg

About the Item

Mid-20th century modern german glazed and painted porcelain frog sitting on a rock by manufacturer Nymphenburg By: Nymphenburg Porcelain Material: porcelain, paint, ceramic Technique: glazed, hand-painted, pressed, molded, painted Dimensions: 3 in x 2.5 in x 2 in Date: mid-20th century, post-war, circa 1950 Style: Mid-Century Modern, Jugendstil, Art Nouveau Place of origin: Germany This mid-20th century porcelain frog sculpture exemplifies the fine craftsmanship of the Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory. Molded and hand-painted in Western Germany after World War II circa 1950, the petite amphibian sits atop a rock base glazed in white tones. Meticulous brushstrokes articulate the mottled skin and bulging eyes in naturalistic detail. The underside bears the shield logo and factory markings that identify this as a product of Nymphenburg. Founded in 1747, the Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory has produced prestigious porcelain wares for almost three centuries now. Based at the Nymphenburg Palace in Munich, it remains a fully handcrafted operation where each piece passes through the hands of skilled artisans who perpetuate centuries-old techniques to this day. Nymphenburg porcelain is prized worldwide for its artistry and quality.
