Ceramic Figure by Gerhard Liebenthron, Germany, 1970, Figurative Man Totem
Very decorative figurative ceramic. We can see in this ceramic work, representing a standing man, different stylistic influences.
The character is stylized, its long and thin shape reminds us of a totem. Black flat tints and stripes contrast with the white of the ceramic and give it an almost "memphis" style. The shape of the face, especially the nose, its expression and especially the pierced ears are freely inspired by South American forms.
The ceramic is very delicate and fine, slightly grainy. Very pleasant to the touch. This statuette of a man is very well made. The piece is worked with precision. The shapes are clean.
It is in a very good condition.
