An austrian Art Déco gilded bronze and chryselephantine sculpture depicting a dancer in motion. Designed by viennese sculptor Gerda Gerdago, the figure stands with hands raised and legs crossed, clad in a skirt and cap. The rich patina and cold-painted detailing pops against the octagonal marble base.
Born Gerda Gottstein in 1906, Gerdago initially made a name for herself as a costume designer in austrian theater and film for decades. She later focused her talents on sculpting emotive bronze and ivory works in the sleek Art Déco style she admired before passing in 2004, leaving behind a dynamic artistic legacy. This rare dancing figure exemplifies her fluid lines and mastery of texture, color, and precious materials.
