Gilt Bronze Sculpture by Antonin Carlès (1851-1919) “Youth”

Gilt bronze print representing a naked young woman with a wild rose flower at her feet. Signed on the Antonin Carles terrace and titled “La Jeunesse”. Foundry mark Siot-Decauville Fondeur, Paris and numbered D347. Base in green Algerian onyx marble, very small repair following a slight chip on one corner. History The Plaster acquired at the Salon of 1883 (NO 3426), placed in 1886 in the marble depository, was deposited in 1889 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Grenoble; reductions were produced in marble, in biscuit by the Sèvres factory in three sizes, in bronze and gilded bronze by Siot-Decauville in two sizes; ordered by the state in 1883; statue commissioned at the Salon Exhibitions Salon of the Society of French Artists (Salon 103) – Palais des Champs Elysées – France, Paris, 1885 Prefiguration of the Musée d'Orsay – Post-Impressionism – Palais de Tokyo – Musée d' Art et d'Essai – France, Paris, 1977 – 1986 Period : 1890 Origin : France, Paris Materials : Bronze and onyx
