Japanese Asian Bronze Showa Meiji Samurai Warrior Sculpture Statue with Armor
About the Item
A truly wonderful and boldly designed Japanese bronze sculpture of a fierce samurai warrior perhaps in a moment of silent reflection. This piece has a great feel and heft. The fine detail in the samurai's face and armor help make this a special work. The deer antler/horns that adorn the helmet symbolize the warrior's bravery and sometimes made it easier for fellow warriors to identify him on the battlefield.
This piece is likely from the early to mid Showa Period (1926-1989) but could be as early as the Meiji Period (1868-1912).
A somewhat unique and hard-to-find work as we can not find another quite like it. Would be a great addition to a Japanese or Asian art/artifacts collection or make for an eye-catching stand-alone accent piece in about any setting.
