About the Item
Entitled "Joust", this abstract ceramic sculpture was made in 2022 by celebrated contemporary ceramicist and sculptor Simone Bodmer-Turner. The piece is comprised of four disparate entities arranged in a balanced but asymmetrical composition.
The ball element is suspended from an 18" length of viola wire strung to the slender, lance-like form nestled inside a circular cavity of the organically shaped base.
This one-of-a-kind, hand-built kinetic sculpture would be well placed on a tabletop, or on a plinth or pedestal. The piece has a minimalistic yet robust presence and perfectly complements a contemporary modernist interior aesthetic.

Simone Bodmer-Turner is one of today's most sought-after makers of contemporary sculpture. Bodmer-Turner works across ceramic, plaster, and found materials, crafting both freestanding design objects such as vases, sculpture, an array of lighting and furniture pieces, as well as large-scale, site-specific installations. The gentle, playful shapes of her work are rooted in the organic architecture of the Mediterranean in the mid-20th century. Her pieces explore harmonization with the physical world, expressing her fascination with nature in all of its unpredictable forms and manifestations.
